I'm glad someone is looking out for the union workers. Ron Carey who lost to Mr. Hoffa, was a former UPS driver in Queens, NY and from my father’s Teamsters Local 804. They had been mostly the furniture and appliance delivers for Macys, Abraham & Strauss, etc. around the city and Long Island after the "baby boom" in the 1950s and places, some without elevators required difficult maneuvering. The trucks were loaded at night, in delivery order, and in cold weather, diesels were often left running all night so no trouble leaving the lot. UPS has, however, been a industry leader in "green" trucks, having electric ones in mid-town quite early. #50 - Fri Sep 2, 2011 12:05 PM EDT
