Strawberry field…

First fruit in the Bronx garden, a spring hybrid strawberry. Only two plants now, the runners were taking over the garden. The new official flower of the borough of the Bronx hasn’t bloomed yet, the daylily, often called “tiger lily” and often a bright orange, an important part of Asian cuisine too. The official borough plant used to be the enormous, stinking titan arum or “giant corpse flower” which draws many visitors to botanical gardens. Have a safe Memorial Day.
