I believe freedom of the press was established to protect the owners, (Zenger was jailed and tried for owning the second printing press in New York which had an opinion about an election) not necessarily its reporters, though I don't think they should be jailed for uncovering a hoax. If the Lewinskys "wanted" to live next door to Bob (loves Viagara) and Libby Dole, and the press reported so, I didn't think the report was a hoax, however, everything else is suspect.
